Beef Stroganoff

Hamburger Helper who? Ditch the boxed dinner and take 30 minutes to whip it up yourself, you will be happy you did. I found this delicious recipe at alrightwithme.com . This beef stroganoff is creamy, rich, beefy and I added my own little extra twist. Let's jump in:
We will need to gather:
1 lb ground beef
1 small onion, finely chopped
garlic powder
onion powder
salt and pepper
1 packet brown gravy mix
1 cup cold water
1 can (10 oz) cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup sour cream
1 bag wide egg noodles
4-5 fresh mushrooms, sliced you can omit this if you don't want extra mushrooms.
This quick weeknight recipe is perfect for busy families who want a good home cooked meal without much prep or time involved.
In a large pot get some salted water boiling for your egg noodles. While that is going, get your mushrooms thinly sliced and your onion finely chopped.

Next, we need to get the beef going. Add your beef and onions to a pan, making sure to break up the ground beef. Season (with your heart and nose) with garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper.
If you are adding fresh mushrooms: Let the meat mixture cook until mostly cooked then add the mushrooms in.

While the beef is cooking, take one cup of cold water and your packet of brown gravy mix and mix together until smooth.

Once the beef is no longer pink, add the gravy mix, sour cream and cream of mushroom soup. Mix well and let simmer for about 10 minutes.

Your noodles should be done at some point through this process. Drain those. When the sauce is done, the recipe I saw said to toss them in the sauce. I didn't do that, my pan wasn't big enough so I assembled everything on the plate. We work with what we have, right?

I really enjoyed this recipe, the creamy and richness of the sauce was spot on. Now that I know how easy this is to make from scratch, I won't be reaching for the box anymore. Let me know if you try it!

In a large pot start boiling some lightly salted water for your noodles.
Finely chop 1 small onion and prep your mushrooms, if you are adding fresh mushrooms.
Add beef and onions to pan on medium high heat.
Mix brown gravy packet with 1 cup of cold water.
Add mushrooms (if adding) when meat is mostly cooked
When meat is no longer pink add gravy mixture, sour cream, cream of mushroom soup, mix well and simmer for about 10 minutes.
Drain your noodles. Add your drained noodles into the sauce and mix.
