Homemade Butter

I think that this was the easiest yet messiest thing I have done in a while. However, it was incredibly worth it. All you need to make homemade butter is whipping cream. I used a stand mixer to turn the whipping cream to whipped cream, and then into butter and buttermilk.

Don't make the mistake I did and add too much whipping cream to your stand mixer - it gets MESSY! I would start with a pint of whipping cream and mix on high. It will turn into whipping cream after about 5 minutes. Make sure you have a hand towel to put over the top of your mixer for when things go flying.
After it turns to whipping cream it will take about 5 more minutes to turn into butter and buttermilk. The butter will get caught in the whisk of the stand mixer. Make sure you have a bowl of cold water ready for when it's done, the butter needs to go into the water to wash off the buttermilk.
Remove the butter, holding it over the mixing bowl and squeeze out the excess buttermilk. Then put it in that cold water, and squeeze. You will see the water getting murky. Change out the water and repeat until the water is clear.
You can either end here, or add salt, herbs or whatever else your heart desires to your butter. I just did salted butter this time. Can't wait to do this again and try some different flavors!
To store wrap tightly into parchment paper and put in the fridge or store on your counter in a butter bell.
Don't forget to store your buttermilk! I stored mine in a mason jar, make sure to strain out the milk so you don't have small chunks of butter in it!

Things got really messy so I didn't get any pictures taken, I hope to be able to add more pictures next time I make it!
